1. This one is at the top of my favorites list for this week. I saw the grass on the sand and it reminded me of an undulating snake. It was one of those small visual details that only exist for a brief moment in time. I had to capture it.

2. One of the things I like about going back to the same places to take pictures is the way the little things change over time. Last week there was no moss growing on these cypress knees, This week the brilliant green of the moss transformed the knees into a fresh visual experience.

3. The delicacy of a dragonfly. I never get tired of these lovely insects.

4. Wary Marsh Rabbit. They never stop being cute.

5. The boardwalk through the restored wetland area at Mead Gardens. I love its crooked, weathered look.

6. I've been playing with more landscape views lately. I like this one because of the play of colors and shapes along the shoreline and in the reflections.

7. My first impulse when I saw the egret was to switch to my zoom lens. But I decided to go for a wider view and I'm glad I did. The egret is part of the landscape here and adds to its beauty.

8. The egret took flight and I followed it with the camera. This shot came out a bit blurry because of the motion but I think it was a happy accident. The shot has a painterly look to it.

9. When I look at this shot, I feel like I could dive through the reeds and into the sky. For me, it makes the world seem both immense and intimate at the same time.

10. A pretty reflection. And I like it!

11. When I saw the morning mist on the surface of the water as the sun was rising, I really wanted to capture the mood of the scene. Turns out that mist is not so easy to photograph. But I was happy with this shot.

12. I've taken many photos of discarded balls but this is one of my favorites. The colors and the way the natural elements are surrounding the ball strike me as kind of a metaphor for our relationship with the natural world -- beauty and dissonance combined.

13. I love this one. The sun shining through the decaying leaf and the silhouette of the vine -- another visual moment that existed only for a brief time.

14. This image has a kind of enchanted feel for me. If I imagined a woodland realm, it would look very much like this.

15. Looking up through some tall pines. A lovely perspective.
This week, I thought I'd share some of my favorites and the reasons why I like them. I hope you enjoy these!
