We paid another visit to Lake Eola Park and the surrounding area of downtown Orlando earlier this week while my mother was in town. Here are a few images from the downtown area. I also have a set of bird shots from the visit that I will publish sometime -- maybe over the weekend. Hope you enjoy these!

Very interesting series HollyKl. The first 2 are fascinating. What/where is the portal? Window art looks like a real flower (live:) is it?

Number 10-gotta be an attorney's version for signs! Cracked me up; surprised there's not a signature line for having read and agreed! Looks like you and your mom got around and had a good time. Hope you have a great Holiday week end too!!

Thanks, Anna! #1 is a window in a door that happened to have that cool reflection of the buildings across the street. #2 and #3 are painted images on the windows of an art gallery. And we all laughed at #10 as well though sadly there is a fairly substantial homeless population at Lake Eola Park; it did also occur to me that the park's bird population is probably in violation of the ordinance.

Happy New Year to you!

These were all visually interesting and artistic pieces Holly. I like the window art but the red chair was the one I stopped to look at the longest.

This is much different and better than any old travel photos. LOL

Thanks, Vlad! I'm glad you like the red chair. I was quite fascinated by the multiple reflections in the back of the chair.

I alos really like the balance of the high values Holly. That little square of white behind the chair really sets off the whites in the chair.

Honestly, I wasn't thinking about high and low values when I framed the shot but I knew I liked the way the chair was interacting with the background. :)

I like the ironwork and the last one is very haunting and sad. All of these were fun to look at. Incredible window art there!

Thanks, Jackie! That last one is sad. From what I've seen, the homeless people who hang out at the park are quiet, polite and friendly. But Lake Eola is a tourist attraction so the city has been trying hard to discourage their presence. Though where else they are supposed to go is a mystery to me.

Orlando has it's moments. You just have to take the time to "Look".

My Fav. structure is the 7-11 at the corner of coloinial and magnolia. Looks like a full building from the outside, but its not.

Nice job Holly !

Thanks, Greg, and I agree. I haven't seen the 7-11 at Colonial and Magnolia; I'll have to make a point of going by there. I like the Art Deco style Publix near Colonial and Mills as well as that whole Vietnamese area there; great food! And the Stardust coffee house. There's a lot here if, as you say, you take the time to look.

I've had lunch at "X, some symbol, *#, something or other" Vietnamese restaraunt myself. Never can remember the English name, but have those symbols in my head. Just don't have the keyboard for it. LOL!

Love the Art Deco look. I know which Publix your talking about. There used to be one on Edgewater Drive too. Haven't been down that road lately to see if its still there, but it was cool.

If I remember right, the Old Kanes furniture building on Coloinial was of that old style too. Don't know if they're still in business though.

My sister tells me the Publix on Edgewater is still there. Don't know about Kanes furniture. But I'm with you. I love the Art Deco look.

Reminds me when I lived back in Miami, many moons ago. Our small house was even the Art Deco style with a bunch of glass block walls. Still trying to get my wife to love it. One day I'd like to have a house like that. :)

My Dream Home style. Already have one like this drawn up for the future retirement. :)

That's a cool house! I hope you get that retirement dream home. I'm currently renting a 1950s house in Winter Park; it has a mid-century vibe that I like a lot, too. I'm glad you stopped by, Greg. Based on political posts, I wouldn't have thought we had much of anything in common. It's nice to get to know you a bit outside of the politics. :)

Great pictures Holly. The last two seemed to be a very sad commentary of today's life in the cities and elsewhere. The first one saying no matter what you can't lie down on the bench and the other someone just wanting a place to sleep.

Thanks for posting these Holly.

Thanks, Soovie! Unfortunately, people outside the mainstream of our society are often treated as objects without feelings or any kind of valid existence. Those last two images really drive that home for me.

The first is a real keeper -- enter it in a contest sometime, just for kicks. The last two come under the heading photojournalism; combine them with a story on OWS or on the homeless for a "complete" journalistic experience!

Excellent photos, Holly! The first Window Art is definitely my favorite, but I also really like the lines and perspective of "Fans!" You're very observant, as I'd probably have never noticed the scene. Great job!

Holly, you truly have an eye for "seeing" lines and compositions that most people miss. I have this vision of Ozzie leading you around the park, while your head is back perusing the air waves looking for lines and perspectives - LOL! Lacking a dog, I'd run into too many things, and using the Yeti? Bad idea. I'd find myself in a groundhog hole or wrapped around a tree - LOL:)

LOL! That is exactly right. Ozzie leads while I lag behind and he gets more impatient as the walk progresses. I generally get the better shots earlier in the walk. Thanks, etva!

Perhaps you could leash up one of the cats for a photo hike? It would be entertaining at the very least. :)

Snort! I tried leashing Leah once for a visit to the Vet. She collapsed to the floor and wouldn't budge, which I found strange, since the boys dress her in battle armor all the time and she still tries to maneuver!
